More than a century of Pontevedra purity
From the sources of the Lérez to the Sanxines spring: the story of water that never stopped flowing

Innovation and bottling
A visionary for his time, Casimiro Gómez created one of the first bottling plants in Galicia, next to the Lérez River.
There, naturally carbonated waters were packaged in thick glass bottles, designed to withstand the pressure of the gas.
Each bottle was sealed with a metal stopper made of lead or tin, a common seal that guaranteed purity and origin during transport.
Thanks to these advanced techniques, Aguas del Lérez established itself as one of the most prestigious Galician waters of the early 20th century.
Born to export
The fame of Lérez water soon crossed borders. Its mineral balance, purity, and elegant presentation made the brand a symbol of Galician quality worldwide. From its plant in Pontevedra, it was exported to countries as far away as China, India, England, Argentina, Egypt, and Australia, where it was appreciated for its distinctive character and natural effervescence. At a time when few Spanish waters managed to reach international markets, Aguas del Lérez was a pioneer in internationalization, bringing the name of Pontevedra to tables and spas around the world.

Contemporary Renaissance
More than a century later, Aguas de Lérez flows again with the same essence that made it famous in Galicia at the beginning of the 20th century.
Inspired by the history of the old spa and its innovative spirit, we recovered its name and soul for a new generation that values purity, sustainability and origin.
The Sanxines spring, on Mount Xiabre, embodies this heritage with water of very low mineralization and natural balance, to which we add natural gas to revive the original effervescence of the Lérez.
Each bottle pays homage to our land, its granitic geology, its Atlantic climate and the honest and vital character of the province of Pontevedra.

1906 The Lérez spa
In the heart of Monte Porreiro, on the banks of the Lérez River, the Galician businessman Casimiro Gómez Cobas inaugurated a spa in 1906 that soon became a symbol of modernity and well-being in Galicia.
Among romantic gardens, tree-lined walkways and a privileged setting, wealthy families and intellectuals came attracted by the purity and prestige of its mineral-medicinal waters, recognized for their carbonic character and their slight natural effervescence.
Declared of public utility in 1904, those cold, clear and pure waters were valued for their digestive and health properties.
The elegant and cosmopolitan Balneario del Lérez marked a golden age for Pontevedra and laid the foundations for the legacy that inspires Aguas de Lérez today.

Disappearance and legacy
During the Spanish Civil War, the historic spa was destroyed, marking the end of an era for Pontevedra.
Over time, the urbanization of Monte Porreiro altered the landscape and contaminated the original aquifer, making it impossible to recover the springs that had given fame to those legendary waters.
However, his spirit was not lost.
That same pure and balanced character is reborn today in the Sanxines spring, on Mount Xiabre (VilagarcÃa de Arousa), where the waters spring forth between granite and Atlantic forest, preserving their freshness and authenticity.
